१५२१. संनिकर्षोsत्र मर्त्यानामनादरणकारणम्। 

गाञ्गं हित्वा यथान्याम्भ: तत्रत्यो याति शुद्धये ॥

अर्थ : -

खूप जवळिक असेल तेव्हा माणसांना कुठल्याही वस्तूची महती त्याप्रमाणात वाटत नाही. जसं की गंगेच्या काठी राहणारे लोक पाप निरसन करण्यासाठी, सर्वात पवित्र गंगेच्या ऐवजी दुसऱ्या क्षेत्रावर जातात.

हिंदी अनुवाद

जब बहुत अधिक निकटता होती है, तब लोगों को किसी भी वस्तु का उतना महत्व महसूस नहीं होता। जैसे गंगा के किनारे रहने वाले लोग पापों के निवारण के लिए, सबसे पवित्र गंगा के बजाय किसी दूसरे तीर्थ क्षेत्र में जाते हैं।

• भावार्थ: अत्यंत समीपता के कारण व्यक्ति प्रायः अपने पास मौजूद महान चीज़ों का मोल नहीं समझता (घर की मुर्गी दाल बराबर)।

English Translation

When there is extreme familiarity, people do not appreciate the true value of a thing accordingly. Just as people living on the banks of the Ganges go to other pilgrimage sites to cleanse their sins, instead of using the most sacred Ganges right beside them.
